Collection 2000 Super Size Mascara

Thursday, 29 March 2012
I picked up Collection 2000's Super Size Fat Lash Mascara this weekend for £2.99 from Boots. First of all the price is really great and the wand is a brush not plastic, wheyhey always a plus! However I wasn't expecting this mascara to be all that good really because of the price but I was quite pleasantly surprised.
The wand is quite big, about the radius of a Vaseline tin(forever a maths girl). When it comes to mascara I don't like mine to be too noticeable, I like my mascara to look like I just have really naturally long dark lashes and not all spidery. So one coat of this mascara was enough for me really.
One Coat
However I know that a lot of people wouldn't be satisfied with that so I applied two coats and also photographed it to show what it would look like. Too me this is a bit too much but I do know some girls who would love the effect two coats has.
Two Coats
The only real con I can find with this mascara is that during the day I found this transferred onto the skin under my eyes and left me with a pair of mild panda eyes. It wasn't too dark but it was noticeable.

Overall: This is a decent mascara from a drug store brand at a decent price.  It adds a lot of volume and length to the eyelashes but transfers onto the area around the eye throughout a day's wear.

How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff

This was ok. It wasn't amazing but it was an easy read really. The plot wasn't that good and at times the character was a bit stupid, she gets into a relationship with her cousin and it doesn't mention at all feelings of guilt. I wouldn't really recommend it.
 Atonement by Ian McEwan

This is a good book but I found it hard to get into. I liked the way it was shown from 3 different characters but I found that as soon as I got used to one character it changed. Really good novel overall though. Would recommend for those that like books set in wars.

About A Boy by Nick Hornby

I loved this. I really seem to have a thing for books where the one of the main characters has aspergers. Honestly have nothing to say apart from that this was brilliant and would recommend it to everyone.

What books would you recommend?

YSL Rouge Pure Shine in 23 Candy Plum

Monday, 19 March 2012
Yves Saint Laurent are almost seen as the 'top dogs' of lipsticks. Most of the hype being around the Rouge Volupte lipsticks however I am a fan of their Rouge Pure Shines. These are their sheer lipsticks which are great for everyday use. I did not purchase this lipstick, I got it as a present from a friend whose mother works for YSL. So I'm not entirely sure how much this retails at but most YSL lipsticks are around £24 pound. I personally don't think that this is a fair price for the lipsticks but I would recommend them if you can get them cheaper.
Candy Plum is a purpley colour that looks a bit scary in the bullet form but comes onto the lips as a very wearable colour. This is such a smooth and easy to apply. The pigmentation isn't too great and it does wear off quite soon, however this can be said for most sheer lipsticks. I really like the shade of this as it's quite unique. The only problem with this lipstick is that if there are any imperfections or chaps in your lips it shows them up(as pictured below). However this can easily be solved with a lip scrub.
Pros - Nice colour, applies well
Cons - Price, Lasting

Guest Post: Spring Beauty Products

Thursday, 8 March 2012
Hey everyone, I'm Sarah and I usually blog about my outfits and make up that I love/hate!
As the theme of this blog swap is ‘Spring’, I thought I would post about a couple of spring themed beauty products that I have just bought.  I love wearing coral as it seems to suit my (very, very) pale skin more than other shades of red/orange, and it is also very bright and instantly makes me feel like spring and summer is on the way!  I bought these two lipsticks from Topshop:

The coral shade is called Infrared, and the nude is called Nevada.  These colours just popped out at me in the shop because the coral is great for wearing with all the summer outfits that I expect to buy soon (!), and it is just really bright, bold and feminine.  The nude is a staple colour really, that is ideal for wearing to work and also with natural-look make up that is always popular in spring/summer.  The description on both these lipsticks is ‘velvet finish moisturising lipstick’, and so far I have only tried the Infrared shade but straight away I noticed how well it goes on and how hydrating it feels.  I suffer with dry lips all year round so this kind of lipstick is perfect for me, and it is also a fairly matte finish which is a bonus.

This is what it looks like on me, and it genuinely makes me feel 100% more like spring is here, even though it is still freezing outside!
I stayed with the coral theme when choosing a new nail polish, and bought this one from Maxfactor, in shade Red Carpet Glam.  I also picked up some nail gems from Poundland!

Nothing says spring more than taking off the dark polish from winter and dressing your nails up in a bright summery shade like coral!  The gems were actually something I spotted after and thought I would try out.  Here is the result:

I was sort of pleased with myself for getting all the gems in the right place, especially doing the left hand, as I am left handed and my right hand is absolutely useless!
I hope you liked my little spring post!  When I found out the theme was ‘Spring’, the first thing I thought of was how I live in coral shades throughout that entire season and how it helps cheer my wardrobe up when the weather isn’t quite as nice as I’d like!
I blog at, so please come and check it out J

Absolutely love this! Such a lovely scent and has a nice consistency. Currently using as a hand cream but will use as a full body moisturiser when I've run out of my current one.

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub
This is just a brilliant product. It leaves my lips feeling so soft and wonderful + it tastes good + you can eat it = happy Hayley.

Good Things Moisturiser
Got this as a gift for Christmas and since then my skin has just been feeling so good! This smells really fruity and is just overall a really good product.

Just read this. It is perfect. Enough said.

Grey's Anatomy
I borrowed the season 1-4 box set off a friend and am now totally hooked. I can't believe I never watched it before. I've already gotten really attached to all the characters. I'm halfway through season 2 at the moment.
