Week In Photos #9

Fancy Chocolates / New Summery Clothes / Dyed My Hair(It Made No Difference)
Book Of The Week / Christmas Stamps In May / Lemon Biscuits
Reading On The Trampoline / Starbucks On Princes Street / Nandos

This week has been brilliant and crappy all at the same time. I had three exams this week: German on Tuesday; biology on Wednesday and History on Friday. It's been sunny all week but I stayed inside until I'd finished the exams, I knew the sun would just destroy all of my motivation. I only have one exam left now, then onto starting the highers.

Saturday was the highlight of the week. I met my friend in Edinburgh(I hadn't seen her since the start of April) and we went shopping and stopped at Nandos for dinner. Haul to come soon! And then I came home  for about half an hour before going out with my granny to see a local production of Me And My Girl. It was fantastic, however in the interval I started to get a bit sniffy. By the end of the second act I had fully developed a cold. A cold. In the middle of a heatwave. I can't believe it. So I plan on spending today on the sofa watching last night's Eurovision. It's also my 6 month anniversary with my boyfriend but he has his advanced higher physics exam(ouch) tomorrow so I won't be seeing him. And I think we're having a barbecue tonight, result.

Collective Haul

Good Things Miracle Mattifier Moisturiser - £7.99
I got a tube of this for Christmas and now it's sadly running out so I repurchased it. It's a big expensive for a  high street moisturiser but it is a brilliant moisturiser. Totally worth the money. This smells fantastic, as do all of the Good Things products. If you haven't smelt them you have to check them out the next time you are in a Boots or Superdrug.
Nail Varnish Remover - £2.20
Needed some more nail varnish remover so I picked up this. I have very horrible nails that peel a lot so I hope this lives up to it's title.
Good Things Wipes - £3.49
Boots have all of their skincare and tanning products on 3 for 2 just now. I decided to try out these wipes as it's been awhile since I've had some really good wipes. They are a bit on the expensive side but I got them for free on the skincare offer.
Burt's Bees Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil - £3.69
This was also on the 3 for 2 offer. I'd wanted to try a Burt's Bees balm for ages so after finishing up two other balms I decided to purchase this. I've only heard good things about these but honestly I'm not that impressed with it. It's very hard to apply and I feel that I need to apply it more ofte than other balms. It's also pretty expensive for a lip balm.
No7 Amazing Eyes Liner - £8.75
I had a no7 voucher so I repurchased my holy grail eyeliner. Although when I opened the new one I noticed that the brush was thicker so I've swapped the brushes, is that weird?
Lush Karma Bubble Bar - £3.10
I really love the karma scent but I've always been a bit sceptical about bubble bars. The water pressure in my house isn't the best and the one time I did try one it didn't break up properly and lots of little bits were just sitting on the bottom of the bath. Also recently we've had someone out to look at the boiler and the water pressure has improved. Will have to wait and see how well it works.
Topshop Bralet - £26
I've been wanting a bralet for ages but never had the guts to try one on. I saw this in Topshop and tried it on and I love it. The pattern isn't something I'd usually go for but I can't wait to wear this. I can see it being a staple piece this summer.
Topshop Skirt
I really liked this skirt. It's high waisted and is really flattering on. it wouldn't photograph very well though. Can't wait to wear it.

I made this lemon drizzle loaf with my grandmother this weekend. Sorry about the quality of the photos I didn't have my camera with me. This tastes absolutely amazing! I can't credit the recipe as my grandmother had it written down in a notepad but I assume it's from a magazine or old book.

6oz Unsalted Butter
6oz Caster Sugar
6oz Self Raising Flour
3 Eggs
Zest Of 2 Lemons
Pinch Of Salt
Drizzle:

Lush Cupcake Face Mask Review

I'll admit I was a bit sceptical about buying this mask, I'm not really a fan of chocolate scented beauty products(like body butters or shower gels for example). I'm normally a massive fan of Love Lettuce and Mask of Magnaminty. Although I was quite pleasantly surprised when I smelt this and found out that this doesn't actually spell too chocolaty. It also smells quite minty which I found rather refreshing. I didn't actually buy this, I returned 5 empty black pots and got it for free. Seeing as I was getting it for free I though I might as well just risk it.
I am so so so so happy I bought this mask. It's brilliant. It's exam season and my skin flares up quite badly when I'm stressed. This has helped me keep my skin under control. I also find that some other Lush face masks don't come off easily and need a lot of water 'n' scrubbing. This however is washed off easily. And -shock horror- the chocolate smell has actually grown on me. The Lush face masks are £5.75 each which is quite steep. But skincare is something I take very seriously and am willing to pay for products that work. As these masks are made with fresh ingredients they need to be kept in the fridge and they have expiry dates. I've found that masks will still be ok after their expiry date and that I can normally get about 2 months use from a pot using it once to twice a week.

What is your favourite face mask?

April Favourites

Lush Cupcake Face Mask
I love Lush's skincare products and this is no exception. I got this for free because I returned 5 empty pots which was great. This smells like chocolate and mint, to be honest I'm not normally a fan of things that smell like chocolate but the smell of this has grown on me. This is designed for oily teenage skin and has really helped me keep my skin under control during the exam period. This is also quite easy to remove, I hate it when a face mask won't come off easily. Really great product, would seriously recommend it.
 Cherry Carmex
I left this in an old bag and only found it again recently. My love for it has been re-sparked, as shown by how much the packaging has worn off. It's a great lip balm and leaves my lips feeling really great. However this stuff tastes god awful if you accidentally get it your mouth.
 Benefit Benetint
I got this ages ago when Glamour magazine were giving out the mini samples in their magazine. At first I didn't like it all that much but recently I've been loving it on my cheeks. I don't like it on my lips so much as I think it sinks into all the cracks in my lips and looks a bit gross. It gives a natural flush of colour on my cheeks, prefect for 'no make up' make up looks.
Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub
I don't think I need to say much on this to be honest, it's a cult favourite amongst bloggers. Overpriced? Yes. Necessary? No. But delicious and wonderful all the same.
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair
This is the first concealer that I've ever actually bought but I don't regret it. I've been loving it under my eyes to conceal those pesky dark circles. I've not had the chance to try this on any spots as I haven't gotten any this month(woo).
The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams
I didn't actually expect to like this as much as I did. I'm so glad I did read it as I loved it. It's witty and sarcastic narrative tone hooked me straight away. I don't want to give everything away so all I'm going to say is that you need to read this!

Recently Read

The Bad Beginning - Lemony Snicket
I absolutely loved these books as a kid and still have them, I've been on a mission to read them again. i really like them but they are obviously written for children so quite basic. I have noticed through rereading this that there are quite a few references to famous authors and really well known books which I obviously never noticed as a kid. I love Snicket's narrative tone and a lot of personality and sarcasm comes through in his writing which I enjoy.

The Reptile Room - Lemony Snicket
Pretty much the same as the previous book. Also these books are very well made. The binding and the illustrations are lovely.

The Miserable Mill - Lemony Snicket
Unfortunately I let my mum's friend's child borrow the third book in the series and she hasn't returned it, so I had to skip onto this one. This was never one of the ones that I liked a lot in the series.

Songs Of The Humpback Whale - Jodi Picoult
This was alright as a bit of light reading. I've never been crazy for Jodi Picoult, I often find that her writing is very predictable. This is written from a few different views however they were all at different times and not dated. It revealed the ending within the first 100 pages. It was OK but I wouldn't read it again.

The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy - Douglas Adams
I had heard of this before but never really thought of it as something I'd like to read. Until about two months ago when my boyfriend made me watch the film and I absolutely loved it. It's written in a very quirky tone and I really enjoyed it. It was quite funny at times and the characters were all really cool. Will definitely be checking out more of the books in this series.

April Empties

I know everyone says this but April really has gone so fast! May has came around so quickly, along with my exams(boo). My empties are a bit... well... erm empty this month to say the least. Although I do have a few products that only have a teeny tinny bit left in them that will be appearing in next month's post. Also would just like to point out that I have 69 followers(ooh raa).

Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel - Love love love love love the scent of this, so sweet and yummy. This was a brilliant shower gel, lathered really well and the smell stayed on my skin for a while. The only fault with this product is that it's only available every Christmas, boo.
Would I repurchase? Yes

Lush Avobath Bath Ballistic - My review of this read here.
Would I repurchase? Yes

Sanctuary Enriching Body Wash  - This was part of a gift set given to me by my boyfriend and honestly I hated this. The smell wasn't very nice, almost like an 'old lady' smell, and it made me break out in hives. Used it all up in about a week or so because I was simply using as much as I could in one go.
Would I Repurchase? No

What have you used up this month?
