Fancy Chocolates / New Summery Clothes / Dyed My Hair(It Made No Difference)
Book Of The Week / Christmas Stamps In May / Lemon Biscuits
Reading On The Trampoline / Starbucks On Princes Street / Nandos

This week has been brilliant and crappy all at the same time. I had three exams this week: German on Tuesday; biology on Wednesday and History on Friday. It's been sunny all week but I stayed inside until I'd finished the exams, I knew the sun would just destroy all of my motivation. I only have one exam left now, then onto starting the highers.

Saturday was the highlight of the week. I met my friend in Edinburgh(I hadn't seen her since the start of April) and we went shopping and stopped at Nandos for dinner. Haul to come soon! And then I came home  for about half an hour before going out with my granny to see a local production of Me And My Girl. It was fantastic, however in the interval I started to get a bit sniffy. By the end of the second act I had fully developed a cold. A cold. In the middle of a heatwave. I can't believe it. So I plan on spending today on the sofa watching last night's Eurovision. It's also my 6 month anniversary with my boyfriend but he has his advanced higher physics exam(ouch) tomorrow so I won't be seeing him. And I think we're having a barbecue tonight, result.

Lush Cupcake Face Mask Review

Monday, 14 May 2012

I'll admit I was a bit sceptical about buying this mask, I'm not really a fan of chocolate scented beauty products(like body butters or shower gels for example). I'm normally a massive fan of Love Lettuce and Mask of Magnaminty. Although I was quite pleasantly surprised when I smelt this and found out that this doesn't actually spell too chocolaty. It also smells quite minty which I found rather refreshing. I didn't actually buy this, I returned 5 empty black pots and got it for free. Seeing as I was getting it for free I though I might as well just risk it.
I am so so so so happy I bought this mask. It's brilliant. It's exam season and my skin flares up quite badly when I'm stressed. This has helped me keep my skin under control. I also find that some other Lush face masks don't come off easily and need a lot of water 'n' scrubbing. This however is washed off easily. And -shock horror- the chocolate smell has actually grown on me. The Lush face masks are £5.75 each which is quite steep. But skincare is something I take very seriously and am willing to pay for products that work. As these masks are made with fresh ingredients they need to be kept in the fridge and they have expiry dates. I've found that masks will still be ok after their expiry date and that I can normally get about 2 months use from a pot using it once to twice a week.

What is your favourite face mask?

The Bad Beginning - Lemony Snicket
I absolutely loved these books as a kid and still have them, I've been on a mission to read them again. i really like them but they are obviously written for children so quite basic. I have noticed through rereading this that there are quite a few references to famous authors and really well known books which I obviously never noticed as a kid. I love Snicket's narrative tone and a lot of personality and sarcasm comes through in his writing which I enjoy.

The Reptile Room - Lemony Snicket
Pretty much the same as the previous book. Also these books are very well made. The binding and the illustrations are lovely.

The Miserable Mill - Lemony Snicket
Unfortunately I let my mum's friend's child borrow the third book in the series and she hasn't returned it, so I had to skip onto this one. This was never one of the ones that I liked a lot in the series.

Songs Of The Humpback Whale - Jodi Picoult
This was alright as a bit of light reading. I've never been crazy for Jodi Picoult, I often find that her writing is very predictable. This is written from a few different views however they were all at different times and not dated. It revealed the ending within the first 100 pages. It was OK but I wouldn't read it again.

The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy - Douglas Adams
I had heard of this before but never really thought of it as something I'd like to read. Until about two months ago when my boyfriend made me watch the film and I absolutely loved it. It's written in a very quirky tone and I really enjoyed it. It was quite funny at times and the characters were all really cool. Will definitely be checking out more of the books in this series.
