Recipe: Frankie & Benny's Style Sticky Chicken Pasta

Saturday, 31 August 2013

Hello everyone! I was a massive fan of Frankie and Benny's sticky chicken pasta. In fact, most members of my family order it if we ever go out for dinner. And guess what they've done? Changed the menu. Guess what's not on it anymore? Sticky chicken pasta. Me and my mum searched for a recipe and have managed to adapt it to our personal tastes. It tastes just like the real deal, if not better, and the sauce only has 3 ingredients. This is super quick and super easy.

Disclaimer: It was my mum that made this, I'm just sharing the recipe.

Chicken breast, cubed
Sliced veg(pepper and red onion works best)
1 cup of pasata
1 cup of honey
1 cup of soy sauce

1. Cook some pasta in a pot and whilst doing so fry your chicken and veg.
2. Mix together the soy sauce, honey and pasata in a separate pot and bring to the boil. This makes enough sauce for 2 people so alter the quantities as you need.
3. Once the sauce has thickened considerably stir in the rest of your ingredients.
4. Enjoy!

This is such a simple thing to make and it tastes amazing. Screw you Frankie and Benny's, I don't need you(well actually I do really like your waffles)!

Review: Lush Yuzu & Cocoa Bubbleroon

Friday, 30 August 2013

Hello everyone. Today I'm going to be talking about my new Lush love. The bubbleroons. These are quite aptly named as they look like little macaroons and create a lot of bubbles. There are three different types available and I went for yuzu and cocoa. I'd always avoided this as I'm not a fan on chocolate scented products but upon smelling this in the store, I knew I wanted this. It actually doesn't smell like chocolate at all but it is a very sweet and soothing scent.

Like the bubble bars, the bubbleroons are crumbled under the running taps. The bubbleroons are really easy to split so I only used half of the bubbleroon and got more than enough bubbles. I have pretty poor water pressure so I can never really get a lot of bubbles but I got more than enough. If you have good water pressure then I can imagine you'd get loads. I didn't really like the colour of this if I'm honest. It was so faded and barely coloured the water. I like something a little bit more vibrant. It was also very moisturising, probably because it contains cocoa butter, so I didn't feel like I needed to apply a body lotion afterwards. In the end I really liked this and thought £3.25 was a really good price.

Stationery Haul

Tuesday, 27 August 2013
I've been back at school now for a week but I though I'd show you some of the stationery that I bought in preparation. I know that the majority of bloggers freak out over nice stationary so I thought I'd share with you what I bought. I did have a big trip to Edinburgh planned with my friend Sarah to visit Paperchase but in the end I was so tired and still a little bit poor after buying my new camera, we ended up in our local shopping centre. Sorry Sarah!

If you have ever been to a Tiger store then you'll know that they always have lots of really cute things. When Sarah and I saw these little Japanese doll pens we couldn't leave them behind. I went for black and Sarah went for blue, but there was also a pink and yellow available. Very adorable.

I also couldn't leave behind this periodic table notepad. I'm doing advanced higher chemistry this year and whilst I'll be taking notes in a folder and not a notepad, I had to buy this. It was also from Tiger.

Now onto WH Smith. I bought this lovely little pencil case. For the last year I'd been using just a plain plastic one(you know the ones you can take into exams) but I wanted something a little bit cuter. I loved this owl pattern and it's also got three sections so I have enough space for all my things. It also fits a scientific calculator.

And then a cute little ring binder for keeping some notes in it. Bright pink isn't my usual colour but I'm going to use this for my physics class and what better way to emphasize that I'm the only girl in the class with a bright pink folder?

I also bought some plain pens and stuff but didn't think that they were exciting enough to be shown. Where is your favourite place to buy stationery?

Review: Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Therapy

Monday, 26 August 2013
Hello everyone. As you all probably know I work in an aquarium and it means that this really dries out my hands. I've been on a mission to find a great hand cream and I think I've found it. My hands are literally so dry that they crack and sometimes bleed. Which is really gross and you probably didn't want to know that but I want you to understand just how dry my hands really are.

When I was having a look around in the Crabtree & Evelyn store I decided I would try a 25g tube for £5 before investing in the 100g tube for £14 if I really liked it. And I can tell now that I will definitely be investing in the larger size. They also do 'hand scubs' which the sales advisor let me try out. AMAZING. Afterwards I was walking around Glasgow with Charlotte literally gushing about how my hands were so soft and she was laughing at me. But after having a feel she 100% agreed. I will also be buying that.

I went for the citron, honey and coriander scent because it was my favourite out of the range. The lemon scent is the most prominent but you can definitely smell the honey and coriander which gives it a really unique kick. This hand cream is really thick and a little goes a long way. I only really apply this twice a day(three or four times if it's a work day) and I find that it's really helped moisturise and improve the condition of my hands. It sinks in very quickly as well and doesn't leave you with greasy hands. This is a must for me with hand creams! The only really critique I have for this is that the lid on the bottle is a bit fiddly and sometimes hard to get back on. I would much prefer a hinged cap that you could just pop open and closed. Yes, this is and expensive product but I feel like it's 100% worth the money if you have really try hands. They also have a range specifically aimed at gardeners which I think I'll treat my granny to at Christmas.

Week In Photos #48

Sunday, 25 August 2013
Alaskan Malamute puppy / Massive Strawberry / My Sammy boy

Hello everyone. I feel like week in photos posts have been taking the back seat lately. The battery in my phone has gone a bit off now and is only holding charge for about 3 hours and even just turning 3G on drains it completely. Which means that I've not been taking a lot of photos when I've been out and about. I would try and get it replaced but my contract runs out at the end of September and then I'll probably get an upgrade. I quite fancy an iPhone. If you have an iPhone do you think an 8GB one is enough or would you recommend a 16GB? I won't be putting any music or movies on it and I'm not a crazy app person. I don't want to get the smaller one and regret it but the 16GB is considerably more.

Not much has been really going on lately because I've been back at school. I didn't get the job at Lush either. They said they didn't want me to quit my job which is a permanent position as this was only a job that lasted up until the end of the Christmas season. I'm not really that gutted because I don't feel like it wasn't because I wasn't good enough or anything. Plus my friend Rachel got one of the places so woo go Rachel.

As for school I'm still doing 3 advanced highers: maths, chemistry and physics. Since returning to school I've found out that all of my As were band 1s which has made me happy. I still can't believe I'm starting my last year of high school! Where did it all go? This week I've been showing the new first years around the school, it makes me feel so old.

The Sunday Pamper

Monday, 19 August 2013
I've had one hell of a busy time recently. Today is the first day in a while that I've not had anything to do and I go back to school tomorrow so it's going to be another while until I have another relaxing day. When I came home from work yesterday I was tired and grumpy and decided I'd pamper myself. I thought I'd do a quick little post to show you the products that I like to use when I'm in need of a bit of TLC.

Working with water means my nails aren't always in the best condition so I like to give myself a little manicure on a Sunday night. I start off by removing my nail polish and trimming my nails. Then I'll apply two coats of OPI's Nail Envy to strengthen and protect my nails. It's a very expensive product but I have noticed a big difference since I started using this. Then I'll apply a little bit of the Lush Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter and give my nail beds a bit of a 'massage'. This product smells gorgeous!

Now it's bath time. I used half of the Lush Yuzu and Cocoa Bubbleroon in my bath and it was gorgeous. I've never used a bubbleroon before but now I want to try them all as they give so many bubbles. This smelt really sweet and soothing. It was also very moisturising so I didn't need to apply a body moisturiser after getting out of the bath. Then I applied a little bit of the Good Things Five Minute Facial Face Mask. I wasn't the biggest fan of this at first but I'm beginning to warm up to it. I then followed up the facial by toning and moisturising.

What do you like to use to pamper yourself?

Sunday, 18 August 2013
I don't really have anything particularily exciting to say to you all today, I just wanted an excuse to show you some lovely food porn photos. Inspiration taken from Rosie.

From what I can understand from American movies, smores are pretty much a standard thing. Despite the fact that they look absolutely beautiful I've never tried them. In the UK there is a distinct lack of graham crackers or whatever it is you use across the pond. A lot of people substitute with digestives but to be honest I'm not a huge fan of digestives so I've never attempted it.

But when I saw the 'smoreo', I was totally down for that. I love oreos so I knew I'd have to try it. You just toast a marshmallow(warning: they can catch fire) and place it between a split up oreo. You're supposed to add chocolate but I never had any to hand and they were still delicious.

Warm, gooey and delicious. Fully recommend.

First Impressions: La Roche-Posay Effaclar Micro-Exfoliant

Friday, 16 August 2013
Hello everyone. When I mentioned this 'exfoliating toner' in a recent haul post, everyone showed a lot of interest. A lot of people asked for a review but because I haven't been using it for long enough I've decided to do a first impressions post instead. For reference I have combination to oily skin and very rarely get spots.

I had heard a lot of people speaking about this product and various other exfoliating toners. The basis of this product is that the chemicals exfoliate your skin as apposed to the beads in a traditional scrub. This is supposed to be a lot better for your skin than a physical scrub and I'd heard a lot of people say that using this is so much more refreshing than using a physical scrub.

If I'm honest I was really disappointed with this product. I exfoliate my skin most days so I was expecting to really like this. I also by no means have sensitive skin and rarely react to products. I found that on more 'broken' areas of my skin this nipped and was painful. There was definitely a tingling feeling all over the face that made me think it was working. However I did not find this anywhere near as refreshing as using my Soap & Glory Scrub Your Nose In It. If I'm honest it reminds me of a cheap astringent that I used in my early teen years. At £11 a bottle, I feel like it's been a waste of money. I don't think it's necessarily a bad product but more of an over priced one.

Review & Swatches: Mac Lipstick in Brick-O-La

Wednesday, 14 August 2013
Hello everyone! Today I'm going to be reviewing the latest addition to my lipstick collection. A Mac amplified lipstick in Brick-O-La. I had intended to try Syrup but when trying it on I realised it was very similar to a lipstick I already own. Brick-O-La caught my eye. Normally I like to do a lot of research via blogs for expensive make up but I'd seen a few photos here and there and I loved the way it looked on.

Brick-O-La is described as a 'mid tone berry' by Mac but I'd say it's more of a 'nude red'. I know that's a bit of a vague description but it's just how I view it. I class this as one of my nude lipsticks yet there is a hint of red in there too. I love the feeling of Mac lipsticks. The amplified finish is definitely the best. They're really opaque but not drying like most matte lipsticks are. They're still a bit shiny and I just love the way they look. I'd say they last about 4 hours. What I really like about these is that they wear more evenly. You don't end up with that horrible look where the edges of your lips are still perfect and the insides have worn off. They don't stand up particularly well to eating and drinking but I don't mind carrying a lipstick with me for touch ups. Another thing about these lipsticks is that they smell amazing. They all have a very sweet vanilla scent that I find makes them more enjoyable to use.

Now onto the price. As you probably know, it's been raised to £15. I'm a bit on the fence about this: I don't like it but I understand that companies have to raise their prices due to inflation. At the end of the day I don't mind treating myself to a higher end lipstick at that price and if you aren't happy with that then there are some great drugstore lipsticks out there.

Recipe: Nutella Cheesecakes

Monday, 12 August 2013
Hello everyone. I was browsing around Pinterest for something to bake when I found this recipe for Nutella cheesecakes. I altered it a bit for personal taste and because I didn't require the cheesecakes to be gluten free but all of the recipe credit goes to Jas.

150g of digestives
2oz melted butter

1 tub of Philadelphia(I used the low fat version)
50g light brown sugar
100g of Nutella

1. Crush your digestives into fine pieces. If you have a food processor then you can use that, but I just used a freezer bag and a rolling pin. Professional chef over here.
2. Stir in the melted butter and spoon the mixture into ramekins to form the base of your cheesecakes.
3. Blend together the remaining ingedients and spoon on top of the bases.
4. Leave in the fridge for a good few hours to chill, or ideally overnight.
5. Enjoy!

These were really good, although a bit sickly. I'm not normally a fan of homemade cheesecake as I find the cheese flavour to be a bit over powering but I really enjoyed these.

10 Things I've Learned About Owning a Dog

Sunday, 11 August 2013

1. Your socks are never going to be safe again. They are now prize possessions and much be guarded with the utmost of care.

2. Ditto your shoes.

3. When you run into other dog walkers they're either going to be really lovely or really rude. Best to take it with a pinch of salt.

4. All the rules that you start off with(no dog on the sofas, no dog upstairs etc) will last for about two months and then crumble. Rules are meant to be broken.

5. If your dog's food is in a muesli form then don't store it in a clear cereal Tupperware box. Your gran will mistake it for normal muesli.

6. Them licking you is a sign of love. You've just got to suck it up and accept it. And hope to god that they licked something else between their genitals and your face.

7. You can never use the words 'walk' or 'biscuit' in their presence without suffering the consequences. Best to make up codewords.

8. There is no such thing as taking too many waste bags on a walk.

9. There is also no such thing as a mud free dog walk. They will find a way.

10. They become a part of the family so quickly. Within a fortnight you'll wonder how you ever lived without them.

Book Haul #2

Saturday, 10 August 2013
Hello everyone. My last book haul was a really popular blog post so I thought you might want to see another one. I've been having a really good reading month lately and I've been super motivated to read lots and I'm loving it! This also means that I've been buying a lot of books but hey, I got a new bookshelf and it needs filling right?

First we have the Chaos Walking Trilogy which consists of The Knife Of Never Letting Go, The Ask And The Answer and Monsters Of Men by Patrick Ness. So far I have read the Knife Of Never Letting Go and I loved it. I had to buy the rest of the series straight away. This trilogy is set in a future world where all of the women have been killed off  by a germ and all the men are able to hear each other's thoughts. It follows a young boy called Todd discovering that things aren't always as they seem.

One book that I've seen raved about again and again is Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell which is a romance novel about two teenagers set in the 80s. Eleanor is the new kid, she's fat, weird and has a really rough home life. And this makes her a target for bullying. But Park is one of the popular kids and he can't keep his eyes off of her. This book was adorable. I really recommend it. Next is Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson it's a young adult novel about two teenagers road tripping across the USA. Amy's mother decided that they're moving across the country and has left Amy to look after the house until it sells. They need the car in their new city so their neighbour Roger offers to drive Amy over. Then they take a massive detour. Again I really enjoyed this book. It was a cute easy read. I also picked up The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown which is the third book in the Robert Langdon series. This was ok but I'm started to get bored with the formulaic stories in this series. It's the history and philosophy that they explore that make the books worth reading.

And finally I have two books that I picked up in the charity shop for about £2 each. The Road by Cormac McCarthy is a post apocalyptic novel about a man and his son. Despite the fact that a lot of  people have told me this is really boring I loved it! I found it really captivating and read it in two sittings. Then a book that I didn't really enjoy, On The Road by Jack Kerouac. This is a classic novel about a  USA road trip. I appreciated it's value as a classic but I personally just didn't enjoy it.

If you would like to keep up with what I'm reading then please add me as a friend on GoodReads.

Review: Cosmetic Warrior Fresh Face Mask

Friday, 9 August 2013
Hello everyone. If you're a regular reader of Water Painted Dreams then you'll know that I'm a massive Lush fan(I actually have a trial shift there today so fingers crossed). Today I'm going to be reviewing one of the latest products I've tried. The Cosmetic Warrior Fresh Face Mask. I've always avoided this face mask because I knew that it had garlic in it and I had expected it to smell absolutely horrible. But it's designed for oily and spot prone skin and my skin has been really playing up recently, so desperate times call for desperate measures.

In actual fact, this face mask doesn't even remotely smell like garlic. It actually smells like tea tree, which I for one really like. It does contain garlic and eggs but these are both actually really good for the skin so you just have to suck it up. There are little chunks of garlic throughout which I thought was a bit useless but it's not really a massive problem. Like all Lush face masks it needs to be kept in the fridge. This keeps the natural ingredients from going off quickly but it also means that the mask feels really soothing when applied. I really enjoyed using this mask, I found that it visibly reduced spots and blemishes. I don't really have 'spot/acne prone skin' so the results weren't phenominal but I did notice a difference when I did have spots. I would really recommend this mask if you have a lot of spots or suffer from acne. But if you have oily skin yet rarely get blemishes then I would recommend that you go with the Cupcake face mask as I found that one to take care of excess oil more than Cosmetic Warrior did.

Lush masks are £5.95 which some people think is really expensive. But I think it's actually really good value for money. I get at least 8 applications out of each tub and when you compare that to the price of sachet face masks then it's a lot better. Also if you return 5 empty black pots to Lush they give you a face mask for free! They do have quite a short shelf life so I use Lush masks once every two days when my skin is acting up a bit as a high intensity treatment.

Life Update: Exam Results and Where I'm Going Next

Wednesday, 7 August 2013

So a few of you may already know this but I got my exam results yesterday. I'm very happy to announce that I got straight As. I still can't believe it! Thank you so much to everyone who tweeted me saying congratulations I really appreciate it! Just to explain to those who aren't from Scotland, I was sitting highers. Highers are the exam results that determine your university places, like A levels. So having straight As means that I'm pretty much good to apply for any of the courses I want to. I still haven't made up my mind but at the moment I'm thinking either chemical engineering or chemical physics, with Edinburgh University being my first choice.

But I still have one year left at school, so how am I going to be using it? At the moment I'm going to be doing advanced highers in chemistry, physics and maths. Advanced highers are worth a little bit more than A-levels and you can sometimes use them to skip to the second year of a university course. I don't really want to do that because I'd rather have the full university experience but it'll be useful anyway no doubt. I'm also volunteering as a teaching assistant in a 3rd year chemistry class. So far it's been quite the experience. Some of the kids are really great, and some of them scare me a bit but I've really enjoyed it so far. I'm really excited to start applying for university courses and just enjoy my last year at high school. It feels weird to be the top of the school. When I was younger I thought everyone was so grown up and cool and I definitely can't see younger pupils viewing me in such a way!

If you're also a Scottish teenager I hope you got awesome results!

Tuesday, 6 August 2013
Hello everyone! I asked you all to ask me questions for a Q&A post as part of my 750 follower giveaway and today I'm going to be answering them all. I really wasn't expecting this many questions so bear with me, there's a lot. I really enjoyed writing this post though and I hope you enjoy reading it to get to know me better.

Mia asked: You're meeting Ryan Gosling and you can only wear three beauty products to impress, which are they?

That's a toughie! Probably liquid eyeliner in a cat eye flick, red lipstick and then a really sexy perfume. If I was having a bad skin week I might be tempted to swap the lipstick for concealer.

Hayley asked: If you could live inside a book, what book would it be and why?

Hands town it would have to be a Harry Potter novel. Probably Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone because I think it would be great to discover the magic of Hogwarts along with the trio.

Sylvia asked: I know you live quite near Edinburgh, but have you ever thought about moving there? Or if anything was possible, where would you want to move in the world?

Yes! I really want to live in Edinburgh. My first choice uni will be the University of Edinburgh. Student housing is so expensive and because I'm so close I can't really justify moving out for first year. Ideally I would like to move out and into Edinburgh in my second or third year of uni. If I could move to anywhere in the world it would probably be either somewhere in the Netherlands or the USA.

Kathryn asked: What is your signature scent?

I wouldn't say I really have one! My top 3 perfumes are Lush's Karma, Beyonce's Heat and Marc Jacob's Lola.

Alice Rose asked: What's your favourite lipstick shade and brand?

I really like red lips although I'm starting to really like nude lips. I really like Revlon lipsticks for 'drugstore' and MAC for a bit more high end.

Kia asked: Highstreet or high end make up?

I definitely own more highstreet make up. High end make up is nice but I can't really justify spending that much money on make up when there are things that are just as good at like half the price.

Sheen asked: What's your go to hairstyle?

HAHAHAHA. I don't have one. I am so, so bad at styling my hair. I'm growing out my fringe so I clip it back everyday but that's it. Sometimes I even brush my hair too ;)!

Sarah asked: If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be?

Russia! The history is so fascinating and the architecture is beautiful.

Amie asked: What's your favourite make up brand and why? / Thais asked: Wat's your favourite brand?

I really like Sleek because their eyeshadow palettes are amazing and everything is very reasonably priced.

Amy asked: If you could only buy from one make up brand for the rest of your life which one would it be?

Probably Urban Decay, if I'm going to buy from only one brand then I deserve a little bit of luxury.

Honey asked: What is your favourite summer nail polish?

Beach Party by Model's Own.

Stacie asked: What is your favourite book of all time?

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.

Juyey asked: If you could be any character in any book who would you be?

Hermione Granger from Harry Potter. I really admire her intelligence and bravery.

Hannah asked: If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why?

As I said, the Netherlands or the USA. The Netherlands seems like a nice place to live as everything is so laid back. And the USA is just really exciting.

Molly asked: What is your must have mascara?

I don't have one! I wear glasses and I find that my eyelashes don't really get noticed that much because of it so I just wear whatever. I like No7 mascaras and Seventeen mascaras but none really stand out.

Elle asked: What's your job like?

It has it's good parts and it's bad parts I guess. I like catching fish(I'm quite good at it), feeding fish and talking to customers. I also really like that it gives me the opportunity to work with fish that I don't have the tank space to accommodate. But as you can imagine, it's not the nicest smelling place to work. Cleaning tanks takes a while and it's quite boring. Also some customers will ask for specific fish which sometimes makes it reall hard to catch then and it annoys me. And don't even get me started on the people that bring back fish to us in Pets At Home bags. But overall I like my job. The people I work with are great and the regular customers are really good people, they make it worth it.

Keira asked: If you could only wear one make up product for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Liquid eyeliner! It's became a bit of a signature thing for me.

Beth asked: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

Probably some sort of stir fry. They're tasty but still kind of healthy.

Lauren asked: If you could only listen to one band for the rest of your life who would it be?

Either My Chemical Romance, 30 Seconds To Mars, Del Amitri or Bowling For Soup.

Lorna asked: What item of make up could you not live without and why?

Liquid eyeliner. I wear it almost everyday and it's just kind of became my 'thing' I guess.

Charlotte asked: What is your dream job?

I would like to do some really awesome science research for a few years in a foreign country. Maybe work at somewhere like CERN. Then when I'm like 40 or something I'd like to be a high school teacher when I have all the cool stories to tell.

Natalie asked: If your house was on fire and you could only save one item what would it be and why?

He's not really an item but definitely my dog. I can't stand the thought of him trapped in a burning house. He's 100% irreplaceable. I'd be gutted if I lost my laptop or my camera or the teddy bear I had as a child etc. but at the end of the day they're pretty superficial in comparison. Plus I could not carry my fish tank out the house. It weighs more than I do when it's empty. I like to believe the fish would be ok because of the water.

Georgia asked: If you could relive any era in history what would it be?

I would love to go to a Great Gatsby-esque party but I wouldn't like to like in any other time other than the present. Always go forwards, not backwards.

Emily asked: What inspired you to start your blog?

Reading other blogs and watching beauty videos on YouTube!

Iman asked: How would you advise other bloggers to gather a following of loyal subs to interact with?

Keep an eye on who comments on your posts and you'll soon recognise the regulars, go onto their blogs and leave comments and follow them on Twitter etc. Have some consistency with your posts. Try not to blog every day for a month and then not blog again for another month etc. Also the #bbloggers hashtag on twitter is a great way to get yourself out there.

Naomi asked: Lyrics that mean the most to you?

To be honest I don't really know. I've not been listening to music a lot recently. Probably something from a Jill Jackson or MCR song.

Charlotte asked: If you could be successful in at any career which career would you choose?

Scientific research.

Ashfa asked: What was your favourite book as a kid?

As a kid I really liked the Harry Potter series and the Series Of Unfortunate Events series.

Carla asked: What's the best holiday you've been on?

Either the last time I went to Lanzarote(October 2012) or one of my holidays with my grandparents to the Isle Of Arran.

Fullafizzy asked: What was the last book you read?

I'm scheduling this post so I don't know what it will be but at the moment I'm working through the Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness. I'm also reading a bit of Memoirs Of A Geisha by Arthur Golden on the side but I'm struggling to get into it. If you want to keep up with what I'm reading then you can add me as a friend on GoodReads.

Faria asked: If you had to choose a colour to describe yourself , what colour would you be?

Bright green!

Rachel and Louise asked: What's your favourite Lush product?

Cupcake face mask or the caca rouge henna.

Bookshelf Tour

Saturday, 3 August 2013
Hello everyone. I really liked the way my bookshelf looked as a background in the photos of this ootd. When I asked if you would like to see a tour a lot of you said yes, I've wanted to do this post for a while so I was glad that lots of you wanted to see it.

I have two of the Billy bookshelves from IKEA, they were £20 each which was an extreme bargain. I like having two of the smaller cases instead of one larger one as I can reach everything and the top of it is pretty good storage.

On the first two shelves I have the start of my paperback collection. I stack them this way as it allows me to fit more books in. They're all organised alphabetically by authors last name ie how they do it in libraries/shops. I also keep my capo and guitar plectrums in the corner. I just think it's a lot easier to keep them all in the same place so I don't loose them.

Then on the bottom shelf of the left hand side bookcase I keep the rest of my paper back collection and my hard backs/American copies. I keep the hard backs and American copes separate as they're not the same size as paperbacks and they'd mess up the stacking.

And then on the top two shelves on the right hand side I keep DVDs, CDs and books that I've not read yet.

And then finally on the bottom shelves I had school folders, textbooks, Crafty Creatives boxes, my kindle and notebooks/recipe books.

On top of my bookshelf I keep lots of trinkets. This is just a close up of my notice board. I have a few photos, my most worn necklaces and a few business cards from my bloggy friends.

Then just a selection of souvenirs and trinkets. Frame and lights from Cabinet Of Curiosities.

And then a really sweet card, my lunch box, a photo of me and a few friends and a signed Jill Jackson CD.

Then my jewellery box, my chocolate frog(THANKS STU!) and a photo of me and Stuart before we went to a Christmas party.

I hope you liked my bookshelf tour. Do you organise your books or do you just put them on the shelf however?
