DIY Clarks Maple Syrup & Coffee Firming Body Scrub

Tuesday, 10 September 2013

Hello everyone! I was kindly sent some maple syrup from Clarks to feature on my blog. But with an added challenge. When I think maple syrup my mind automatically goes to pancakes. Delicious stacked pancakes dripping with maple syrup with a tall glass of fresh orange juice on the side. But Clarks wanted me to do something beauty related with maple syrup. Challenge accepted. My favourite body scrub is The Breakfast Scrub from Soap & Glory which smells just like pancakes and I decided to put my own twist on it.

Coffee is a great ingredient for body scrubs as the caffeine in it helps break down cellulite. So here's my 'breakfast scrub' a wonderful combination of coffee and pancakes. Personally I'm not a fan of coffee but I love the smell of it so I really enjoy using this scrub. It has three simple ingredients coffee, sugar and Clarks Amber Grade Maple Syrup.

Step 1: Add one cup of coffee granules and sugar to a bowl and stir.
Step 2: Add some lashings of maple syrup(about 1/3 of the bottle).
Step 3: Stir to combine.
Step 4: Compact into a tub or jar of your choice.

And there we have it a cheap and easy body scrub. And as you only use 1/3 of the bottle you'll still have lots left for pancakes. Which are next on my hit list! Would you guys like to see a recipe for that? If you're looking for more things to do with maple syrup as a quick fix, click here to go to the Clarks website, they have a whole section for maple syrup recipes(very handy).

Clarks have 4 different types of maple syrup available and kindly sent me 3 to try. I decided to use No2 Amber Grade maple syrup as it was the darkest in colour to match the coffee and to me it smelt the most maple-y. My next mission is to cook or bake some delicious things with it. If you'd like to try some out the 180ml bottles retail for £2.89 and are available in most supermarkets or on Amazon.
