Review: John Frieda Frizz Ease Intensive Masque

Tuesday, 6 May 2014
As you all probably know I recently went cruelty-free. This means that I won't be using any beauty products tested on animals. Unfortunately, this means that I can no longer buy my favourite deep conditioner, the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle. In its place, I've been trying out the John Frieda Frizz Ease Intensive Masque. I'd heard so many good things about this but have never tried it before because the Aussie one was cheaper. However, I think that this is a great cruelty-free alternative that doesn't have to break the bank.

I have very long, very curly, very frizzy hair so I use a deep conditioner or conditioning mask every time that I wash my hair. This really helps out my hair and leaves it feeling a lot smoother. When I just use a regular conditioner I can definitely feel the difference. The John Frieda Frizz Ease Intensive Masque is quite thick but a little goes a long way. I apply a little bit of this to my hair, focusing on the ends, and then I brush out my hair. Brushing your hair whilst your conditioner is in helps it to spread equally through the hair. The tub recommends that you leave it on for 3-5 minutes but I'll often keep it on longer than this whilst I wash and generally potter around in the shower. After washing it off my hair feels really soft and smooth. It has a nice, kind of fruity scent that lingers for a while but isn't too strong. My hair also looks very shiny after using the masque. If you have frizzy damaged hair I would recommend using this every time you wash your hair. With more 'normal' hair you could probably get away with using this once a week or every couple of washes. The only thing I dislike about this is the packaging. The tub is a bit awkward to use in the shower and it would be so much better in a tube.

A 150 ml tub of this retails for £5.99 which is quite expensive for such a small amount. However, a little goes a long way. I've not finished a whole tub yet but based on how I'm using it just now it will last about 2-3 months. Overall, that's a price I'm willing to pay and when I'm finished all of my stockpiled 3 Minute Miracles I'll be coming back.
