Bedside Essentials

Saturday, 6 August 2016
After starting a second job for the rest of the summer it feels like I've been spending most of my free time in my bed because I've been absolutely shattered. And it's gotten me thinking about what I like to keep by me and I've reorganised my bedside table so that I'm only keeping the essentials to hand. Plus I'm super nosy and love seeing what people keep in their rooms which is why I'm writing this blog post. Also I wanted an excuse to show off this super cute new photo background I picked up!

Hand Sanitiser - Ok so I like to snack in bed. But I also read in bed and I don't like to touch my books with my hands after I've been eating in case I mark them. So I like to keep hand sanitiser on my bedside table so that I can eat and read at the same time without having to get up and wash my hands. Lazy? Yes but this is literally a post about things I don't want to get out of bed to reach so.... I bought this Limoncello hand sanitiser from Bath and Bodyworks when I was in New York and I love the smell of it. It's so fresh!

Lip Balm - How annoying is it when you get all comfy in bed and then realise your lips are dry as hell? It's like getting into bed and then realising you need to pee - it's not something that you can ignore! I got this EOS lip balm in Canada. It's the passionfruit flavour and smells amazing. The quality of these isn't great and in all honesty they're a bit gimmicky but after years of seeing them on American blogs it's nice to have my own. Swear I must have about 5 lip balms dotted about the place...

Hand Cream - I'm really bad at remembering to put hand cream on during the day so I keep some on my bedside table to remind myself to apply it at night. This way I'm giving it time to soak in and I can apply it a lot more liberally. Recently I realised that I have so many hand creams. It wasn't until I rounded them all up into the one spot that I was like daaaaaayum girl you got a problem. So I'm trying to get through them. But these little ones from Crabtree & Evelyn are definitely my favourite.

Backup Glasses - When you're blind as a bat having a pair of glasses to hand is a must. I can't do very much without a pair! My current back up is this pair* from Firmoo who are an online glasses retailer. They're cheaper and the quality isn't as good as what you'd get on the high street but they're good to have as back ups or if you don't wear glasses all the time. I'd definitely be happy to wear them as prescription sunglasses etc. But I'm glad to have these incase my regular ones get broken. Their ordering system is really quick, easy and your glasses will be delivered in about a week. If you'd like to try out a pair you can get a free pair of frames and lenses with the code 'russell' all you have to do if pay shipping ( valid until August 21st).

Books I'm Planning On Reading - I always keep the books I haven't read yet or am planning on reading on my bedside table. I do most of my reading in my bed so it's the ideal spot. It also means if I finish a book then I can start a new one without even have to get up. Win win situation right? Plus if I keep all the books I haven't read yet on my bedside table then it stops me from buying more books when I already have some sitting there. Although a special allowance had to be made for The Cursed Child because you know, Harry Potter.

Speaking of books, if you have any recommendations, leave me a comment!
